The reputation of the company in the local
area grew and more enquiries were received for other types
of materials including granite, limestone and marble. In
October 2000, Chris
Kelsey joined the company to expand
and develop the sales of other materials.
The production
facilities at the Rowsley site were improved by the acquisition
of the adjacent building and more production equipment.
The production at the two sites was rationalised to allow
all primary sawing and masonry work to the gritstone products
to be completed at a nearby works. The granite,
limestone and marble products are manufactured at Rowsley.
As part of the growth into other materials the opportunity to acquire a carboniferous limestone quarry arose in the early part of 2001. The Mandale Stone Company Ltd was bought as a joint venture. This provided the company with a source of material to develop. The Mandale Quarry is situated in the Peak Park. The quarry has been improved and provides a source of building limestone to the Peak District. More importantly, the block is now available to the architectural market for all types of use including flooring, worktops and tiles.
The company has expanded into the supply of high quality finished goods for the domestic market. This suits the products available, especially the limestone. Customers now have more materials available to choose from at the works enabling all types of projects and uses of natural stone to be considered.
